O ministro Gilmar Mendes, do Supremo Tribunal Federal (STF), determinou nesta terça-feira (23) o arquivamento de um inquérito que investigava o ex-senador Aécio Neves (PSDB/MG).
O tucano era investigado por susposta maquiagem de dados no caso que ficou conhecido como ‘Mensalão do PSDB’.

Delações premiadas apontam que o caso investigado teria ocorrido durante a apuração da CPI que investigava o ‘Mensalão do PT’, no ano de 2005.
A Polícia Federal (PF) informou ter encontrado indícios de que Aécio Neves cometeu crimes e, inicialmente, a Procuradoria Geral da República (PGR) chegou a pedir ao STF que enviasse o inquérito para a primeira instância.
Porém, a PGR mudou o entendimento e pediu o arquivamento do caso por falta de indícios mínimos contra o tucano.
Em 14 de setembro, o ministro Gilmar Mendes negou o pedido da defesa de Aécio , que pedia o arquivamento do inquérito em que ele era investigado por supostamente intermediar o pagamento de vantagens indevidas da Odebrecht para a campanha de Antônio Anastasia ao governo mineiro, em 2010. A decisão atendeu pedido da Procuradoria-Geral da República.
